What time of year does Mallorca experience its highest rainfall?

Mallorca’s highest rainfall occurs in autumn, particularly from late September through November. October is typically the wettest month on the island, followed closely by November, as the warm Mediterranean fuels intense convective storms. In Palma, long-term averages put October around 70–80 mm of rain and November around 55–65 mm, compared with very dry summers. The mountainous Serra de Tramuntana amplifies this pattern, with some stations there exceeding 800–1200 mm annually and peaking in autumn due to orographic lift. The heaviest episodes are often tied to DANA/“gota fría” (cut-off low) events that can produce torrential downpours and flash flooding. Winter and spring see moderate rainfall, but not as high as the autumn maximum.
