Is there an entrance fee to visit the Cuevas del Drach on the east coast?

In recent years, the Cuevas del Drach near Porto Cristo have become one of the island’s most popular natural attractions, and visitor numbers are carefully managed to preserve the caves’ unique atmosphere. Access is through a guided tour which includes a classical music concert and a boat ride on the underground lake, Lago Martel. Tickets must be purchased in advance, especially during the summer months and local holiday periods, as entry is strictly controlled to avoid overcrowding.

The entrance fee contributes to the upkeep of the spectacular stalactites and stalagmites, as well as the infrastructure that makes the visit comfortable and safe. Though the caves are a major draw, the surrounding area offers peaceful walks along the Ma-15 road towards Cala Mendia or a taste of local life in the nearby town of Manacor. Proper footwear is advisable as the cave floors can be slippery.

While other caves on the island, such as the Cuevas de Campanet in the Tramuntana range, allow more spontaneous visits, the Cuevas del Drach require advance planning. Visitors often combine a trip here with sampling traditional treats like ensaimadas in local cafés or enjoying a swim at the nearby Cala Anguila beach, making for a fulfilling day along the east coast.
