Where can I find quiet coves with good snorkeling on the island?

The coastline around Cala Mondragó, on the southeast, offers some of the quieter, less-visited coves where snorkeling reveals vibrant marine life just beneath the surface. Here, sheltered waters invite beginners and experienced snorkelers alike to explore rocky seabeds dotted with colorful fish and patches of Posidonia seagrass. Cala Llombards, nearby, is another small, idyllic cove where clear waters and rocky outcrops create excellent conditions for spotting underwater creatures. These spots tend to be less crowded than larger beaches like Es Trenc, providing a more peaceful experience.

Over on the north coast, the rugged area near Formentor holds some hidden inlets accessible by foot along coastal paths or by boat. These coves, while a little harder to reach, reward visitors with excellent visibility and undisturbed underwater habitats. The Tramuntana mountain range cliffs plunge into the sea here, offering dramatic scenery above and diverse sea life below. Remember to pack your gear and some provisions because facilities are limited or absent, and public transport like the TIB buses won’t drop you directly at these secluded bays. Exploring these spots well away from Palma and Alcudia is a great way to discover the quieter side of the island’s marine beauty.
