By contrast, shops in Palma or towns like Alcudia and Pollenca tend to have higher prices partly due to their overhead costs and convenience factors. They often stock a carefully curated selection including local favourites such as ensaimadas and Binissalem wines alongside imported and branded goods. While air conditioning and credit card payments add comfort, these extras are reflected in the price. Markets remain the best place to uncover genuine local specialties and negotiate deals — especially if you’re picking up multiple items for a picnic on Es Trenc beach or a road trip along the Ma-13 through the Tramuntana mountains.
